Hockey club "Ugra" - a professional hockey club, was founded in 2006. In the 2008/2009 season, Ugra began performing in the Premier League (Vostok Division), and in 2010 the Board of Directors of the Continental Hockey League voted to include the Ugra hockey club in the KHL Championship participants. In 2011, the Ugra Hockey Club formed a team of the "Mammoths of Ugra" youth team.
